Setting the Mode Switches
Figure B‐1showsthelocationofthemodeswitchesandtheswitchsettingsfornormal
operation.Theseswitchesaresetatthefactoryandrarelyneedtobechanged.
Switchdefinitionsandpositionsareasfollows:
•Switches1through6–ForEnterasys Networksuseonly.
•Switch7–ClearPersistentData.Changing
thepositionofthisswitchclearsPersistent
Dataonthenextpower‐upofthemodule.Alluser‐enteredparameters,suchastheIP
address,modulenames,etc.,areresettothefactorydefaultsettings.Oncethemodule
resets,youcan eitherusethefactorydefaultsettingsorreenteryourown
parameters.
•Switch8–ClearAdminPassword.Changingthepositionofthisswitchclearsthe
adminpassword,andrestoresthefactorydefaultpasswordonthenextpower‐upof
themodule.Oncethemoduleresets,youcaneitherusethefactorydefaultsettingsor
reenteryourownpassword.
Caution: Read the appropriate sections to be fully aware of the consequences when
changing switch settings.
Only qualified personnel should change switch settings.

password to its factory default setting.
